A Word from DS Rev. Tracey Beadle – 08/02/25

A Modern-Day Circuit Rider

From day one of “DS-ing,” I’ve been out visiting churches and pastors all across the North District—and over the past several weeks, my joy has only grown. Whether it’s a tiny rural chapel or a bustling urban congregation, I keep seeing the same thing—faithful, creative, and deeply meaningful ministry happening in every corner of this district.

Each church I visit has its own personality and gifts, shaped by its community and context. But what ties you all together is a shared heart for serving others and making a real difference in people’s lives. It reminds me of Paul’s words: “Therefore, my beloved, be steadfast, immovable, always excelling in the work of the Lord, because you know that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.” (1 Corinthians 15:58)

Honestly, as I make my way from church to church, I’ve started to feel a little like an old-school Methodist circuit rider—just with air conditioning, GPS, and fewer saddle sores! I keep thinking of something John Wesley said: “Though I am always in haste, I am never in a hurry, because I never undertake more work than I can go through with perfect calmness of spirit.” Okay—that’s not exactly me (yet!), but I definitely aspire to it. As I travel, I’m doing my best to stay spirit-led, grateful, and at least calm-ish.

I’ll keep making my way around the district and hope to complete the full circuit in the coming weeks. In the meantime, if there’s anything you need, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I’m here for you.

Also—good news! We’ve created a North District Facebook group where we can share celebrations, updates, questions, and ideas as we grow and serve together.

And stay tuned… a brand-new North District website is coming soon!

I’m having fun, learning a ton, and truly grateful to be in ministry alongside each of you.

With joy,
Tracey
